Dear [Elected Representative],
I write to you today on the 3rd year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, to warn that the circumstances which led to Russia becoming a fascist state are NOW HAPPENING HERE! Not only did we not see trump condemn elon zeigheiling at the presidential inaguration and now bannon ziegheiling at CPAC — but trump himself doubled down and declared himself king on the official White House social media!! This clear endorsement of nazism and monarchism goes directly against everything we stand for as a democratic republic and with his edict about absolute “presidential” power. Plus, his disregard for court rulings on actions deemed illegal, will destroy the US Constitution!
- I expect you to work with your colleagues in congress to not leave it up to a ‘constitutional crisis’ to start figuring out how to arrest this wannabe king once he starts to assert ‘absolute divine rule’ and disregard the decisions of our courts. I furthermore do not understand what you’re all waiting for in terms of arresting elon TODAY for the 100s of violations of the Constitution and the Rule of Law he’s already committed!
- There is also trumps pivot into stating outright Russian propaganda lies about Ukraine, pivoting to support putin, abandoning NATO and threatening to invade allies — which points to the likelihood that he is in some way compromised by Russia. This combined with the fact that he’s crashing the US Economy at warp speed and breaking so much of the gov that it will take decades to recover, makes one wonder if he is in fact the Manchurian Candidate Frank Sinatra warned us about. It is imperative that you remove him from power for treason via impeachment or 25th/14th
- In line with the nazi playbook of destroying democracy in 53 days I am terrified by the trump DOJ investigating Rep. Robert Garcia for his freedom of speech. This as well as placing unqualified loyalists in charge of the FBI and the DOD who are promising to do the same against Americans like me excersizing our 1st Amendment rights causes me grave concern. American Citizens should not be placed in the position of having to weight the utilization of their rights for the good of the Constitution against their personal safety. This type of terrorism is not dissimilar to what has been normalized in putins Russia and is yet another reason to remove trump from power by any means necessary.
As a Ukrainian I have talked to many Russians who have regrets about not acting in time to save their democracy from the creep of fascism. In our case here however the coup set in motion by trump ( and possibly Russia ) for the purposes of “winning” in Ukraine is moving much faster. It is therefore imperative that you figure out how to arrest it in its tracks as fast as possible, because with every day that goes by, these power-mad nazis are given another opportunity to figure out some way to flip the tables on the remaining checks and balances available to the people in Congress!
