What is happening with MidJourney 🌳🌲🌴

I dont even know what to call this. I was going to write an article about how we should all kumbaya into the future with a feeling human endevour powering us. However I just experienced Midjourney and am no longer the same man — seeing lightyears of human endevor blow past me in meer seconds.

I think what this article was going to be about was how we ultimately move together to a singular horizon. However the stakes and the game have changed so dramatically for me in the last 24hrs I feel like I am becoming unmoored from reality. The thing is — while I am watching weeks of work being generated in mere seconds on the side I cant help but contemplate the implications of this technology outside of illustration.

We are all endowed with infinitely capable brains — each just as capable or as destructive as the other. We can dream, manifest and manipulate reality into whatever we want it to be. It is our greatest strength. And we now have the technology to hyperspeed and lighthack our way through many things outside of just illustration as well. Think about what it means for an individual brain to be able to do the compution of dozens or thousands or millions of brains in parallel to accomplish a task — literally any task they set themselves to!

It is 6am in California and I have been fucking around all night trying to get the AI to generate me an illustration of my NFT. Results have been subtly a failure but nothing I cant rectify with Photoshop. More importantly it did not hit me until tonight — how far this goes beyond just visual generation until just now. AI will have a profound effect on society and it is up to us to figure out who controls the reigns and how.

Hopefully the rich do not monopolize this computational power and it persists as something that is available to the common human being as a social good. Its not looking good already with subscriptions but I hope this can be rectified in the future.

I want to see this technology succeed in that I want it to be an outburst of the human spirit and not a destructive force wrought by centralized corporations. Hopefully we succed in that…

Heres my experiment in trying to get MidJourney to approximate my NFT
